Scientific context

ATR is a protein-serine/threonine kinase. It is part of the PI3K family and functions in a complex with ATRIP. It responds to DNA damage and replication stresses and activates proteins that mediate DNA repair such as p53, BRCA1 and more. It other roles involve checkpoint signalling by interacting with chk1, fragile site stabilty and regulation of centrosome duplication.
